I'm a mom. A bunch of blogs, seminars, and podcasts might encourage me to make my about page sound crisp, professional, filled with keywords that make me sound like superwoman, or if I'm vague I might even sound like superman! But I'm doing this my way.
Now you know exactly who you are hiring.
I'm a mom. And I love it.

It makes me a better artist. I'm a South Asian

immigrant in Toronto. I love walking in this city.

I am a children's book illustrator and it is

my favourite area of illustration. Predominantly,

I use Procreate and InDesign for my work in

kidlit but when I have flexible timelines I enjoy

exploring traditional materials like crayons, colour pencils, acrylics, and watercolour. I'm a book layout designer with a ton of experience working with a rainbow of print demands. And if there's

a problem that needs solving, I am trained to be calm, get a snack, and work through it. I have a background in community

engagement and build on my education in art, counselling,

and art-based therapy, to educate and facilitate

community workshops. I believe art is for everyone

and public art makes ideas accessible to

everyone - to introspect, to start a dialogue,

or to feel human on a gloomy day. I design

and paint murals in an effort to add conversation to the city.

I have been a freelance artist since graduating with a

degree in Fine Arts so, as you can imagine, it has been                           wild - wildly non-linear. I find stability and a connection

with my peers through design. Working as an Illustration

Designer allows me to work with a team, to have diverse                         ideas bounce about in a room full of creative cats, work

towards a big picture, problem-solve, and communicate

with a large, colourful audience, through

                                                          honest, responsible visual language.

Time is a floppity bubble in my world but

there are tiny purple windows that pursue

immersive drawing. At the foundation of it all is still

paper, pencil, and ink. And if my daughter sleeps in

there's colour and glue, and sometimes thread to

weave a world of stories for her to grow into.

I write about what I'm learning and building, about

being an artist & a parent. It's free & accessible.

I create learning resources for multilingual kids

and I'm happy to re-create my designs in

languages other than English & Marathi, for

parents and educators from other cultures.
